1602 | In 2001 we visited Sweden during our summer holidays. We shot some footage there (unfortunately our hands were not so steady back then) from trains. We start at Degerfors where a heavy freight train passes by. Next we see Degerfors Fomnings AB where a Z70 from SJ (Green Cargo) is visiting the site (nr 706). We visit Oskarshamn where a T43 252 from BK Tåg is waiting on the station yard for departure to Nässjö. The next location is Älmhult, where we see the diesel engine type V5 nr 166 from SJ (Green Cargo) shunting with some container wagons. The Rc2 1031 is leaving in the direction of Hässleholm with a freight train and we get to see the old locomotive shed with turntable and an old V1 engine. The high speed train X2000 passes by and a freight train, pulled by a green Rc type electric engine. (Green Cargo) is following. Next the Rc6 nr 1418 from the SJ is stopping at the platform of Älmhult with a passenger train. In the evening we catch the V5 that is going for some shunting and we see the T44 nr 333 arriving from Olofström with the Volvo train. It couples with another set of wagons before leaving Älmhult. Next we are invited on board of the V5 that is going to the container terminal of Älmhult, only to make a stop to show the inside of the locomotive shed with T23 engines, part of the national reserve fleet, preserved for wartime and another V5 engine (nr 189). We move on to the container terminal where we pick up some wagons and return to the station. By then it is too dark to film anymore. The images are not our best, but the represent the typical rail traffic in the early 2000. |
